
The National Diploma in Sport Physical Therapy
This diploma programme prepares you for a career in the sport, health and fitness industry. This course is designed for people who wish to work as Sport Physical Therapists, Sports Massage Practitioners, Strength & Conditioning Coaches and Personal Trainers, either as self employed professionals or as part of specialist team treating and training the active population. Graduates of this course often work alongside other practitioners such as physiotherapists, chiropractors, sports rehabilitators and coaches in the assessment, training and treatment of the active population.
While on this programme students are taught advanced soft tissue techniques often required to treat conditions such as repetitive strain injuries, muscle spasms, chronic backache, whiplash, strains and sprains. Athletic strength and conditioning is also part of this diploma programme, which is of great benefit when assessing exercise related injuries and for pre-habilitation - the prevention of injury.
Graduates of The National Diploma in Sport Physical Therapy will be able to work with sports teams, offering pre/inter/post event sports massage, remedial therapy for injured soft tissue, sports taping & strapping, team physical assessments and strength & conditioning programmes.
This qualification will also allow you to work with the sedentary population, releasing tension and restriction in soft tissue due to bad posture or repetitive movements. The sport physical therapist can also offer dietary advice and advanced strength and conditioning training programmes to individuals and teams.
